ASSEMBLY POINT SIGNS

It must not be assumed that, once outside a building, people will know how to get to an assembly area. Signs directing to the assembly area may be required.

Fire assembly points should be far enough away from the building to avoid interference with the fire brigade and danger from falling debris caused by the fire. Providing clear and visible signage will help ensure all evacuees know where to gather in the event of a fire or fire drill. They must be easily accessible and have an unobstructed pathway leading to them. Larger sites may require multiple assembly points that can be identified with allocated numbers/letters.
